Abraham Lincoln
16th President of the United States and America's first Republican President. Lincoln believes that Fort Sumter must not be surrendered and orders the reinforcement of Sumter. He will later approve Seward's plan to reinforce Fort Pickens in Pensacola, FL, which ignites the Civil War.
William H. Seward
Secretary of State who is the mastermind of planning the reinforcement of Fort Pickens. He thinks that he has the "power" and the "influence". Most of Lincoln's cabinet members dislike Seward for some reason.
Gideon Welles
Secretary of the Navy who was not informed of the "secret orders" both Lincoln and Seward developed.
Gustavus Fox
Brother-in-law of Monty Blair and a former naval officer; created the plan for reinforcing and resupplying Fort Sumter. He will be allowed to enter Fort Sumter and report the conditions of the fort to President Lincoln. Along with Welles, he is also not informed about the "secret orders". He will also witness the attack on Fort Sumter.
Stephen Hurlbut
A friend of Lincoln, he was sent to his hometown of Charleston by President Lincoln to investigate the secessionist fever in South Carolina. He reports that Unionism in South Carolina is dead.
Gen. Winfield Scott
A Mexican-American War hero, he was the head of the US Army until Gen. McClellan succeeded him. He informs President Lincoln about the status of Fort Sumter and calculates the costs of reinforcing and resupplying Sumter.
Major Robert Anderson
US military officer who commanded US forces at Fort Sumter. He is the former mentor of Gen. Beauregard at West Point.
General P.G.T. Beauregard
CSA military officer who commanded Confederate forces at Fort Sumter. He is the former student of Major Anderson at West Point.
